Jeff Necessary was born and raised in Southwestern Virginia. At an early age, he found great success in sports, especially baseball.  Jeff was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates out of high school.  He chose to turn down the Pirates' lucrative contract offer, and accept a full athletic scholarship to play for King University in Bristol, Tennessee where he was a 3 time All-American, and inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2014. 

With this year in the books Jeff plans to  return next year for his 36th year in the classroom.  "Teaching all these years has been an amazing experience, but I'm starting to look more seriously at life after teaching.  I'll be at NMBHS for a while longer, but at most, three years. I'm not sure right now.  I work for, and with, some wonderful people. It'll be hard to walk away, but the time get out is near. Friends who have already retired have told me I'll know exactly when the time is right. We shall see."  is how Jeff explains it.

Jeff currently lives in Surfside Beach, SC.,  a short drive to nearly 100 of the best golf courses that South Carolina has to offer.  He spends much of his free time on the many courses on the Grand Strand.  In addition to being a teacher and an author, Jeff has spent over 30 years investing in Myrtle Beach area real estate.

"I can't remember having a better day"   is how Jeff greets his students each day and he truly means it.
